PRACTICE

First, write two or three paragraphs of the first draft straight up, with no subtext Use a work in progress or choose from the suggestions below Then dig beneath the surface using one of the techniques discussed in the article to add subtext to the scene Think clearly about what your character wants, but find subtle ways to express that desire on stage. Don't forget to include the reader Let them discover the undercurrent, the emotional truth of the scene Clues:
• A grieving husband talks to his dead wife • A girl meets a cute boy in a shopping mall • A husband asks his wife to clean up dog poop while walking in the park Write for fifteen minutes When you're done, post your work in the comments, and don't forget to give feedback to your fellow writers!
CAHPTER 2.
2.1. Methods of subtext
Method (Ancient Greek: μέθοδος, methodos) literally means the search for knowledge, an investigation, a way of investigating that or investigating a system In past centuries, it more often referred to a set process for completing a task May mean:
• Scientific method, a series of steps or set of methods for acquiring knowledge
• Method (computer programming), a piece of code associated with a class or object to perform a task
• A method (patent), in the sense of patent law, is a protected sequence of steps or actions
Methodology, comparison or study and critique of individual methods used in a particular discipline or field of research
• René Descartes' Discourse on Method, a philosophical and mathematical treatise
• Methods (journal), a scientific journal on experimental methods research in biology and medical sciences
• The term "methodology" has several meanings This usually refers to a method, a field of research methods, or a philosophical debate about the underlying assumptions surrounding these processes Some researchers distinguish between methods and methodologies, arguing that methods are data collection tools, while methodologies are more general research strategies that define how a research project is to be conducted. In this sense, the methodologies include several theoretical commitments regarding the expected results of the study. • As a method
The term "methodology" is sometimes used synonymously with the term "method" A method is a way to achieve a predetermined goal. It is a planned and structured procedure to solve a theoretical or practical problem In this respect, methods differ from a free and unstructured approach to problem solving. For example, descriptive statistics is a method of data analysis, radiocarbon dating is a method of determining the age of organic objects, stewing is a method of cooking, project-based learning is an educational method The term "technique" is often used interchangeably in both academic and everyday discourse Techniques usually include a well-defined set of decisions and actions to be used in a given set of circumstances The point of following the steps of the method is to get the promised result. In the context of research, methods can be defined as systems of rules and procedures that help discover regularities in nature, society, and thought In this sense, methodology can refer to the procedures used to obtain new knowledge, or to methods of testing and falsifying prior knowledge claims This includes several issues related to data collection and data analysis When it comes to collection, it is about the problem of sampling and how to handle the data collection itself, such as surveys, interviews or observations. There are also many methods of analyzing the collected data using statistics or other ways of interpreting them to draw interesting conclusions According to Alexander Georgievich Spirkin, "methodology is a system of general principles and ways of organizing and structuring theoretical and practical activities, as well as the theory of this system." Helen Kara defines methodology as "a contextual framework for research, a coherent and logical framework based on attitudes, beliefs and values that guides the choices of researchers". Ginny E Garcia and Dudley L Poston understand methodology as a complex set of rules and postulates that guide research, or as an analysis of such rules and procedures The methodology, as a set of rules and postulates, defines the object of analysis, the conceptual tools used in the analysis, and the limits of the analysis Research projects are usually governed by a structured procedure known as the research process The purpose of this process is given by the research question, which determines what information needs to be obtained. Types of methodology with explanations
The analysis and principles used to employ the discipline of any concept should be distinct and noted. The systematic idea of the methods should be implemented in the discipline of concepts and explain the methodology description. Before starting any projects, the person should be strong in his methodology which is going to be implemented in his projects. The primary methodologies used by the people are mixed, quantitative, qualitative methods. Under these broad categories, few cases of the survey, self-reporting, research analysis, and other professional reports are submitted. The term methodology represents the outline which has to be undertaken for the gain of knowledge. It defines the means of data gathering and mode of data organization and gives the accurate result to be calculated. It doesn’t represent any methods and attention provided to the kind and nature of the process to be followed in a proper procedure to achieve the objective. When there is a proper structure to study the concerned methodology it comprises to give a constructive and generic framework. It may be split down into chunks, sub-processes, combined, and changes in their sequences. The constructive framework is represented by the paradigm and the persistent development of paradigm mollifies any particular methodology. The algorithm is also similar to a paradigm that has a continuous framework, where the construction is based on logical data, instead of physical and sequence of connected components. Any description for result calculation is the same as a methodology that is significant with its epistemological meaning and limits the process of procedures. It also restraints its functionalities in organizing the set of tools and instruments that is applied in the methodology. In simple, it is a design made in the research of the project to develop the procedure of the project to achieve the desired outcomes by using or not using tools or instruments. In the process of methodologies, the methods cannot be interchanged. But in the past few years, the methodology and its steps led to chaos and misinterpretations which undergoes a suitable analysis that is implied in structuring the research.
Now that we’ve learned what subtext is, here are 5 techniques you can use to add it to your story.
