Pairwork,
suitable for large classes
Preparation
Write the animals from Box 49 on the board.
Procedure
1 Tell the children that they are going to invent a witch’s magic potion.
2 Ask the children to write down the five animals from the board.
3 Show them how to use the possessive apostrophe +
s after the name of
each animal, e.g.
bird’s.
4 Then ask them,
in pairs, to choose something from that animal that they
could use in a witch’s magic potion. They
may have to use bilingual
dictionaries to find the exact word they want to use.
5 The children then write the witch’s magic potion. A model is in Box 50.
