You’re an “under thirty” business owner. What challenges did you face
as a millennial entrepreneur?
Being that my parents are both college-educated and work nine-to-five jobs,
it was difficult to “come out” as an entrepreneur to them. I say, “come out”
because for a long time I felt like I had to hide it. My dad saw my ambitious
goals as too risky and immature so it took me a long time to come to peace
that I wouldn’t have his support on the lifestyle I wanted to lead. Those
were the restrictions I was talking about.
How do you handle feelings of envy or competition?
I’m learning the best way to do business is just take the emotion out of it.
When it’s time to optimize your sales funnel or ask for feedback, you can’t
take things personal. Business is meant to provide value for the exchange of
value. If
you get too emotional about it, it
will harm your progress and
leave you feeling unable to manage your company.
