G. SPLIT INFINITIVES

H. Муайян отлардан сунг тугридан тугри infinitive куллаш мумкин:

ability demand failure request

ambition desire offer scheme

anxiety determination plan willingness

attempt eagerness promise wish

decision effort refusal

His ability to get on with people is his chief asset. (одамлар билан кириша олиш

кобилияти)

He made an effort / attempt to stand up. (тик туришга харакат/уриниш)

Failure to obey the regulations may result in disqualification. (буйсунмаслик)

Their offer / plan / promise to rebuild the town was not taken seriously. (кайта

куриш таклифи/режаси/ваъдаси)

She was annoyed by his unwillingness to do his share of the work. (бажаришга

хайрихохлик билдирмаслик)

He couldn’t realize his ambition to run his own business. (бошкариш орзуси)

The demand to buy such clothes is increasing. (сотиб олишга талаб)

In their eagerness to find the solution, they may have overlooked certain financial difficulties. (топишга иштиёки)

My father’s refusal to accept the offer was disappointing. (кабул килишга рад жавоби)

Willingness to help people is a man’s good character. (ёрдам беришга хайрихохлик)



noun / pronoun + infinitive

I have letters to write. (that I must write) – ёзишга хатлар бор (ёзишим керак

булган)

Does he get enough to eat? (that he wants to eat)

Have you got anything to say? (that you want to say) – дейишга бирор нарса

борми? (сиз демокчи булган бирор нарса борми)

AT THE CUSTOMS: I have nothing to declare. (that I need to declare) –

декларация килиш учун хеч нарсам йук

How can I find a house to rent? (that I want to rent)

There is plenty to do. (that we must do)

noun / pronoun + infinitive + preposition

someone to talk to – someone whom I want to talk to

cushions to sit on – cushions that we sit on

a tool to open with – a tool we can open the box with

a case to keep my records in – a case in which I will keep my records

a glass to drink out of – a glass out of which I drink tea

a table to write on – a table on which I write


J. MAKE, LET, HELP; BUT / EXCEPT

  • MAKE


S + make + somebody / something + V (Simple)

any tense

Active: бирор киши(лар)

/ нарса(лар)га бирор

нарса килдиртирмок/

мажбур этмок

He made me move his car. (у менга машинасини сурдиртирди)

Why did you tell him? – He made me tell him. (у айтишга мажбур килди)

Her parents made her stay home.

You can’t make him go if he doesn’t want to. (боришга мажбур кила олмайсан)

The vet made the dog vomit. (итни кусдиртирди)


Sр + be made + infinitive

Passive:


I was made to move his car.

I was made to tell him.

She was made to stay home.

The dog was made to vomit.




  • LET


S + let + somebody / something + V (Simple)

any tense

бирор кишига бирор нарса

килишга рухсат этмок
They let him see the documents. (улар унга хужжатларни куришга рухсат

этишди)


I may let you stay up late.

Since he needs money, let him earn it.





  • HELP


S + help + somebody / something + infinitive / V (Simple)

any tense

He helped us to push / push it.

The lean from the bank will help her (to) start her own business.
