FEATURES OF LINGUOCULTUROLOGY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE

Nazarova Gulbahor, KSPI teacher
Shodiyeva Ziyoda, KSPI student

Annotation: This article highlights important changes in language as a result of important
social factors in society, as well as changes in language according to the demands of the time.
Key words: Linguoculturology, complex, proverb, folk life, cultural establishment,
linguist.
Language is defined as a mirror of a particular nation. As there is a close connection
between language, in which we speak, and our culture. Various limitations are created by
languages, within this people who speak in different languages share cultures of their own
motherland. All this can be connected, initially, to the prehistory of the specific science on the
relationship of language and culture. It is essential to be taken into consideration that, at the
beginning of XIX century the difficulties of languages and culture were taken under the attention of
linguists, culturologists and philosophers. At the end of this (XIX) century, the conception “
Linguoculturology” was introduced as the new branch of linguistic scinence. Linguoculturology is
considered as the theoretical basis of linguistic culture

It is counted as “a complex scientific
disciple of the synthesizing type that studies the interrelation and interaction of culture and language
in this functioning and reflects this process as an integral structure of units in the unity of their
linguistic and extra linguistic (cultural) content through systemic methods and with an orientation to
modern priorities and cultural Establishment (a system of norms and universal values)“

Supporting
view points of different linguists, every linguist used another scientific approach to this nation. As
linguist Ricker determined “From the point of narration, life in the world is just the life in the world,
being already marked with the language” practice, linked with this understanding before hand”

Language is considered as the greatest access for mankind in order to express their feelings,
situations, thoughts, ideas. Even by telling a unique word, we can share with our senses or just by
saying on sentence, we can give explanation to a person or teach how to do something and tell what
to do. Definitely, words expressions, coming out from our mouth are closely related to our culture,
at the same time they are elements, showing our traditions. Mostly these features of
linguoculturology are seen in proverbs and idioms in English language.
Proverb is a short well-known statement or saying, that gives advice or expresses something
that is generally true.

There are plethora of English proverbs which are originated by folk life,
writers’ wisdom or religion. Many English proverbs lead people to good attitude or guide them to
better life.
English proverbs involve the following linguo cultural features such as:
1.
Carefullness ;“One bitten twice shy”
When someone or something has hurt you once, you try to stay away from him/it. Usually,
this proverb tends people to enhance their alertness.
2.
Advise; “Do as I say, not as I did”
It means “Doubt to be mistaken as I cocked up, that is why I am giving you advise from my
experience.
3.
Work; “No pleasure without pain” (1)
“Hands, Many/make light work”(2)
(1) If you want to succeed in your job or in which you do, you should be ready to face up to
problems.
(2) If you work together with your partner, you can overcome difficulties easily.

Idioms is a group of words that has a special meaning of a each separate word.

If English
proverbs urge people to do something or stop from doing wrong things, a whole situation or all
abilities of person are expressed by using English idioms.
