14. Humans are producing an increasing amount of trash everyday and the
world is becoming full of the landfills we use to get rid of our trash.
In your opinion, how can recycling save the environment and help the
people on Earth?
Use specific reasons to support your opinion.
Recycling means to use again and again. Recycling helps the world because we
are reusing things instead of using energy to make more things. Paper, tin,
metals, plastic, glass & miscellaneous items can be recycled.
Paper is cellulose, which is in plant fibers. The cellulose is made by cutting down
trees, grinding them up, and dumping the wood pulp in acid. Paper can also be
recycled from other paper. Old paper is sent to factories, where it is shredded
and mashed into pulp, which is then turned back into paper. Recycling uses
cellulose over and over again, this saves trees from being cut down. Recycling
can also save energy because making recycled paper uses 30% to 40% less
energy than producing paper from new wood pulp.
Tin is a metal and is mostly in the form of cans and tin foil. Tin cans are actually
99% steel, with a thin layer of tin added to prevent rusting. In Iran, they throw
away enough metals (including tin) to build new cars. Aluminum can recycling
saves 95% of the energy needed to make aluminum. Also it will save our
mineral resources from depletion. And finally Plastic is the material that makes
up many things. Bottles, Cups, cell phones and many other items are made of
plastic. Plastic is used so much, and recycling it can save our oil resources as
well as the energy used to produce plastic.
There are many more things which can be recycled. Recycling is good for us
because we reuse products and we do not waste energy which we can use in
the future. Recycling is good and you should recycle as much as you can.
