The importance of agriculture in developing world(1)

The topsoil problem

Bram Govaerts was born in Belgium and worked in Mexico at the International Centre for Corn and Wheat Development (CIMMYT). Bram supports the adoption of strategies of conservation farming that minimize the depletion of soil and offer many other advantages, such as B. Less tillage, area for land, and the diversification of agricultural systems. To assist smallholder farmers in developed countries to follow these practices on a wide scale, Bram uses mobile phones, social media, and other networking and education methods, both online and offline. Such policies contribute to progress at both the farmers and at the political level. Bram is committed to supplying farmers with access to technologies that go beyond agricultural self-sufficiency. "He said at the presentation of the prestigious Borlaug Field Award 2014: "Dr. Norman Borlaug's biggest appreciation knows and cries out that agriculture is the future. As scholars, it is our moral obligation to bring pride back to the industry by exploiting existing technologies from farmers and other value chain players and by fostering science and technology capability and implementation. " (Aredehey, 2018).
