• The purpose of formulating this objective and this question is to look at the linguistic structure of the sermons at content lexeme level to identify the high-frequency words that are normally used in sermons so that the awareness of these high-frequency words among audience may help them comprehend sermon texts in their various contexts

• High-frequency words from Muslim Scholars’ sermons will be highlighted through constructing a corpus of high-frequency words of sermons with lexical frequency analysis by using corpus linguistics software Word Smith Tools 6.0.
• Esimaje (2012) agrees in his study that the word frequency variable is very significant in sermon text comprehension.

Significance

• Methodological Level
• As far the methodology to be employed in this study is concerned, it will be a contribution at methodology level since it will be majorly within the framework of CDA with a minor blend of Corpus linguistics. This corpus-aided critical discourse analysis methodology with a CDA model and thematic analysis for analyzing the religious discourse of Muslim scholars will be highly distinctive as it will present multi-methodological approach to analyze Islamic religious discourse.

Significance

• Practical/Social Level

Most importantly, this study will highlight the moderation in religious discourse of the Muslim scholars by highlighting the themes of moderation such as inter-faith harmony, tolerance, human dignity, religious pluralism, and peace to produce a parallel narrative to already built narratives regarding Islamic religious discourse.
