This research will help the international forums understand the religious discourse of the Muslim scholars in true sense and meaning. - Religious discourse of Muslim scholars will be mainly investigated to reach moderate themes such as inter-faith harmony, religious tolerance, peace, human dignity, and religious pluralism.
- An ideologically positive self-representation in the religious discourse/ sermons of Muslim scholars will be uncovered by employing Van Dijk’s Ideological Square Model of Us vs Them as explained in practical framework.
Cont… - In the first place, those Muslim scholars will be selected who are widely listened by the Muslim audience and whose sermons will be directly in English and they will be analyzed within the framework of corpus-aided CDA. Only 40 speeches/sermons will be selected for analysis through systematic sampling method which the researcher believes will suffice for the analysis to answer the research questions and to meet the objectives. The linguistic analysis of the structure of the religious discourse/sermons will be limited to only lexical choices (content lexemes) and syntactic structures (types of sentences according to structure and function, active and passive sentences and).
Cont… - In the second place, only 40 sermons/discourses of Muslim scholars will be analyzed in this study which might be insufficient for exhaustive analysis to reach the moderate themes through thematic analysis approach but will suffice for this study to serve the purpose. In the third place, the thematic analysis approach will be using to uncover the moderate themes and themes such as inter-faith harmony, religious tolerance, peace, human dignity, and religious pluralism will be used as a guiding principle.
Cont… - The corpus analysis to aid the qualitative discourse analysis will be restricted to lexical frequency analysis and collocation analysis to identify the high-frequency words in the linguistic structure of sermons and collocation analysis to look at the moderation in the religious discourse of Muslim scholars. Corpus linguistic software Word Smith Tools 6.0 will be used for these analyses. Most importantly, the study will be restricted to only the religious discourse at physical level. The study is not meant for the details of the sources on which the discourse is based. The selected religious discourse/sermons of Muslim scholars will not be topic bound.
Cont… - The study will not go for the comparison and contrast among the selected Muslim scholars and it will also not aim at highlighting Muslim scholars’ difference of opinion if any. Furthermore, the selected religious discourse of Muslim scholars will be from the period of 2010 to present. The researcher will not necessarily select discourses year wise but he will take discourses generally from this specified era.
