Islam, its main currents and trends

The origin of Khawarij. Part of the 12,000-strong army stationed near Kufa was dissatisfied with the agreement between Ali and Mu'awiya. They left the army and went to the village of Harura near Kufa with the slogan "judgment is only in the hands of God". The "xypyj" (disobedience) incident of this sect in Kufa caused them to get the name "Khawarij" (dissenters). Since this incident happened in the village of Harura, at first they were called "Haruris". They called themselves "Shurot" ("those who put their lives in the way of God"). They also had the name "Muhakkima" (those who say "judgment is in the hands of God").
The Khawarij chose Abdullah ibn Wahb al-Rasibi as their emir and began to destroy Ali and Mu'awiya. After Caliph Ali was killed in 660 by Kharijite Abd al-Rahman ibn Muljam, the Khawarij split into two factions, one of which remained in Iraq and the other went to the Arabian Peninsula. During the Umayyad period, there was a fierce struggle against the Khawarij. Because they posed a great danger to the Umayyad state. During this period, the Khawarij became stronger and occupied cities and lands such as Kirman, Persia, Yamama, Hadramawt, Taif and Yemen.
Even after the power passed from the Umayyads to the Abbasid dynasty (749-1258), this category did not lose its power for a while. However, the Khawarij faced a crisis only after the Abbasids had waged a continuous struggle against them for a long time.
The basis of the teachings of Khawarijs is as follows:
 they declared the sinner an "infidel". Accordingly, Caliph Uthman is called a disbeliever because he did not follow the path of Abu Bakr and Umar. Ali, Mu'awiya, Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, Amr ibn al-As are infidels in their eyes because they participated in the opposition groups;
 They consider it a religious duty ( wajib ) to oppose the "tyrant" king with a sword in hand . They reject the principle of concealing their faith ( taqiyyah ). Even though they were weak militarily, they believed that it would be necessary to oppose the powerful "tyrant" king;
 anyone can be elected to the caliphate by Muslims, regardless of whether they are from the Quraysh tribe or Arab. The caliphate, as the Shiites say, is not confined within a particular community (dynasty);
they believe that prayer, fasting, zakat and other actions are a part of faith. It is not enough for a person to be recognized as a Muslim if he affirms it with his tongue and says it with his tongue until he performs all the deeds.
