Madhhab (arabha – direction, stream, path, doctrine). Sects are characteristic of all widespread religions, and the conflicts that have occurred in those religions over the centuries have arisen from divisions. The great schisms that have arisen in religions are called streams in science.
Religious sects in Islam differ sharply in matters of religious belief and ritual from Sharia sects and religious theology streams.
The first major problem that arose in Islam in the early period was the question of who has the right to take over family power after the prophets. Ali's followers took the name "Shia" and started the first division in Islam. During the struggle between the two sides, Sunnis and Shiites, a third direction, called the Kharijites, also appeared.
The sect of Sunnism is called "Ahl al-Sunnah wa - l - Jama'a" and consists of four jurisprudential schools:
1. Hanafi
2. Shofiiy
3. Moliky
4. Hanbali.
Two dogmatic doctrines are followed in Sunnism: Motrudiyyah, Ashariyyah
Today, there are approximately 1 billion people in the world. Sunnis make up 92.5 percent of 300 million Muslims, and they are divided according to sects in the following ratio:
1. Hanafis - 47%
2. Shafi'is - 27%
3. Owners - 17%
4. Hanbalis - 1.5%
The Shia direction includes the Ismaili, Ibadi, Jafari, and Zaidi sects and makes up 7.5 percent of Muslims in the world.
