B. Absence of predators
Another contributing factor for the emergence of domesticated animals is the absence of predators. Wild
animals face a constant threat from predators, which results in a higher mortality rate, especially for
the young and weak. However, domesticated animals are protected from predators by humans, who also
provide them with food and shelter. This sense of security allows them to live longer, reproduce more
frequently, and pass on their desirable traits to their offspring. In addition, domestication also offers
animals protection from environmental extremes, such as droughts, floods, and harsh winters. As a result,

domesticated animals have evolved to become more resilient and adaptable than their wild counterparts.
The absence of predators, coupled with human protection and care, has played a significant role in the
development of domesticated animals, and has led to their widespread use in agriculture, transportation,
and other industries.
C. Favorable climatic conditions
One of the main factors that contribute to the emergence of new species of animals is favorable climatic
conditions. When the weather patterns in a region change, it can lead to the evolution and adaptation of
animal species to the new conditions. For instance, if a region that was previously hot and dry suddenly
experiences heavy rainfalls and mild temperatures, it can lead to the emergence of new species that
can thrive in the new climate. This is because these animals have to adapt to the new environment by
developing new strategies for survival. These strategies may include changes in their feeding habits,
alterations in mating behavior, or the development of new physical characteristics that allow them to
better withstand the new climate. Thus, favorable climatic conditions play a critical role in the emergence
of new animal species, and understanding this process is crucial for preserving biodiversity.
In conclusion, the emergence theory of animal domestication can shed light on the reasons why certain
species became domesticated. This theory suggests that animals themselves played an active role in the
domestication process by selecting environments and human groups that provided the most benefits.
Furthermore, the emergence theory emphasizes that animal domestication was a long-term process that
occurred over many generations, rather than a deliberate or intentional act by humans. Understanding
the emergence theory can also help us better appreciate the complex and co-evolutionary relationship
between humans and animals. By recognizing the agency of animals in the domestication process, we can
move away from the traditional view of humans as dominant over and controlling of animals. Overall, the
emergence theory provides a valuable framework for understanding the complex and multifaceted history
of animal domestication and offers new insights into our ongoing relationships with other species.
