Safety rules when used in high pressure cylinders filled with compressed and liquefied gases

  1. Gases such as oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen are compressed in cylinders, gases such as carbon dioxide, ammonia chloride and hydrogen sulfide are liquefied, and acetylene is in solution. The acetylene cylinder is filled with porous coal and solvent (acitone).

  2. Liquefied and dissolved gas cylinders should be handled with extreme caution, as compressed gases can explode at lower temperatures than filled cylinders.

  3. All gas cylinders must have a protective cap, and the nozzles of cylinders filled with toxic gases must be equipped with an additional cover (plug). The nozzle of cylinders filled with flammable gases (eg hydrogen) is left-threaded. The purpose of this is not to inject oxygen into them as a result of an error or, conversely, not to inject flammable gas into the oxygen cylinder. All gas cylinders must have their own color, mark (belt color) and a label indicating the name of the stored gas. After a certain period of use, the cylinders are tested for serviceability and marked. Expired cylinders must not be used.

  4. Balloons can explode for the following reasons.

  1. As a result of exposure to sunlight, open flames, heating sources;

  2. Hitting or hitting balloons with a solid object;

  3. Contamination of oxygen cylinders with oil, grease and other organic substances.

  1. Cylinders should be stored at a distance of 1 meter from heating sources (radiators), 1.5 meters from burners, tiles, etc., protected from direct sunlight, fixed in such a way that they do not fall.

  2. The gases in the cylinders can be used only with the help of reductants designed for this gas and painted in the appropriate color. Gearbox monometers are checked once a year. The safety valve of the gearboxes must be adjusted to the maximum working pressure required for the intake volume.

  3. Care should be taken not to use various wrenches or other devices when opening the valve of the cylinder. If it is necessary to use it, it is necessary to be very careful not to use too much force, otherwise the lever of the valve will break, which can lead to the consequences of breaking the thread and exploding the cylinder.

Fire protection measures

  1. If flammable liquid is spilled in the room, immediately turn off the gas burners, electric heaters and close the door, open the windows and ventilate the room. If it is possible to collect the liquid, immediately soak it with a cloth or towel, squeeze it into a high-walled container, and then transfer it to a container with a lid. Ventilation of the room should be stopped only after the smell of spilled liquid has disappeared.

  2. If clothes such as shirts, gowns, pants burn:

    1. It is necessary to wrap the flame with blankets, felt, coats, etc. without running;

    2. If a burning person runs or escapes, the above measures should be taken.

  3. In all laboratories, sandboxes, blankets, blankets, fire extinguishers and other extinguishing media should be located.

  4. If there is a fire in the building, immediately call the fire brigade and before they arrive, use all available forces and means to extinguish the fire.
