3. Who was the first to recognize/ point out the problem?
4. What aspects of the problem did researchers concentrate on at that time?
5. When were the first studies on the problem made? In what years?
6. What time period do the first studies/ observations/ investigations date back to?
7. When was the problem first studied intensively?
8. When did interest in the problem increase?
9. Is the problem well understood at present?
10. What aspects of the problem still remain poorly understood/ unsolved?
11. Could you point out the gaps or shortcomings in the earlier studies of the problem?
Citing Sources
Citation and documentation of sources are recognition of the writer's indebtedness to others in the creation of a research report.
In general, citations (formerly called footnotes) are used:
• when quoting any sources’s actual words.
• when using a person or source's ideas, opinion, or theories — even if completely paraphrased in your own words.
whenever you use facts, statistics, or other illustrative material from somebody else’s work.
Citations should NOT be used for:
• quotations that are familiar to any educated reader.
• ideas that are generally accepted.
• facts that are well known and undisputed.
Documenting Sources http://libguides.usc.edu/writingguide/literaturereview
Document sources as you write. Insert minimal reference information in parentheses ( ) wherever you incorporate another’s words, facts, or ideas.
Each source you include in a parenthetical reference must appear on your Works Cited.
The ( ) should be placed just before the concluding punctuation in the same clause in which you use the borrowed material.
Some WHS teachers also ask that, when your paper is complete, you go back and number each parenthetical reference consecutively. For example, (1 Fabre 49).
