EMPHASIS (AMPLIFICATION OF MEANING)

Emphatic constructions are used to strengthen individual sentence members and entire sentences, which should also be taken into account in the translation by changing the order of words, etc. There are different ways of amplification:

1. 
   Using the auxiliary verb to do.
   

e.g. Such a change does actually occur.
Bunaqa uzgarish xaqiqatdan xam sodir buladi

2. 
   By the aid of the construction is (was)… that, This is… which (who,
   

where).
e. g. It is by the end of this term that a possible reoperation may be considered.
Faqatgina bu xolatning oxirida operatsiya xaqida uylash mumkin. c) With comparison as many (much) as, as few (little) as и др.
e.g. As many as half the patients suffered from obesity.
Bemorlarning yarmidan kupi oshiqcha vaznga ega edi.
d) By inversion, when some of the part the sentence is not in its right place.
e.g. In only three cases was therapy discontinued.(ср. Therapy was
discontinued in only three cases.)

Exercise 1. Analyze and translate sentences.

   The amount of radiation received from dental x-ray machines is as little as one twentieth of the power of medical X-ray machines.
   
2. 
   Yet the benefits to be derived from necessary dental x-rays are far greater than the hazards.

   Researches have found that as many as 60% of sealants done this way fail in too short a period.
