This exercise will clarify how students express agreement and disagreement. All the students in the class gather in front of the blackboard. I will read the arguments given in the table to the students. It took 5 minutes to accomplish this exercise. Most of my students preferred to answer non-verbally by nodding their head, changing their facial expression. At the end I wrote the results of this exercise.
I concluded that most of my student had a tendency to use their gestures or any other non-verbal way instead of using verbal phrases to express their agreement and disagreement. So I aimed to change the way they use to express their agreement and disagreement by using another activities. My second activity called “Strong and weak agreement and disagreement matching” I clarified my students how to perform this exercise. After that, I distributed a worksheet with the following phrases and a table. According to the knowledge they learned during the lesson, they placed the expressions given in this task in the appropriate rows in the table. I conducted this exercise so that students can better understand the content of expressions used to express agreement and disagreement and learn which expression should be used in which situation. According to the results, 15 students participating in the lessons were able to complete 60% of the assigned task. This task continued for 5minutes. At the end of the exercise, I explained to them where they did mistake. I recorded the observed results.
