CONCLUSION
Having investigated our course paper, we came to the following conclusion:
The first paragraph deals with the importance of teaching grammar in teaching foreign languages. The ultimate goal of teaching grammar is to provide the students with knowledge of the way language is constructed so that when they listen, speak, read and write, they have no trouble applying the language that they are learning. Language teachers are, therefore, challenged to use creative and innovative attempts to teach grammar so that such a goal can successfully be achieved. In other words, whatever exercises are given, the most crucial thing is that the teacher provides students with an opportunity to produce the grammatical item making use of syntactically and semantically correct examples of sentences comprised of appropriate and relevant vocabulary.
Grammar is useful any time you discuss particular words or sentences with your students. The formal term for this language about-language is metalanguage, a vocabulary about language itself, one that makes it possible for us to redirect our words back on themselves so that we can talk and write about how we talk and write. As with any new type of language, you and your students will need some time to get used to it. But it is as handy-and necessary-in order to discuss what makes a sentence the way it is as the terms for science and mathematics are for talking about an experiment or a problem. Grammar is a tricky word. On the one hand, it means "the language of language." On the other hand, you may need to remind yourself from time to time that all of us are grammar experts: we all know grammar; we all know how to maneuver words and phrases in order to communicate effectively nearly all the time. We also are all keen observers of language. We see and hear the kinds of language that people use in different situations. The teacher's challenge is to tap into all this expertise. You may want to consciously practice a repertoire of a few flexible questions and directions that can help elicit points of grammar in many different classroom discussions.
In foreign language acquisition accurate understanding of the language structures is the key part so teaching grammar is an essential aspect of foreign language instruction. There has always been a debate about the most effective way of teaching grammar. Grammar instruction through context positively affects learners‘ competence to use grammatical structures accurately in language skills. It is always useful for learners to see how language works in sentences or paragraphs; therefore, teaching grammar in context will give learners opportunities to see how grammatical structures function in sentences. Teaching grammar in context will help learners to acquire nature of the language which will facilitate their understanding of the language.
Grammar instruction is a difficult issue in language teaching. Teaching grammar through context will help learners perceive the structures of the language effectively. If learners are given grammatical structures in context, they will be able master the language better. Teaching grammar in context will help learners to acquire new grammar structures and forms. Learners will use grammatical conventions more effectively in communication if they learn them in context. The teacher's chief task when teaching grammar is to show the students what the language means and how it is used; and must also show them what the grammatical form of the new language is and how it is said and written". Teaching grammar in context will give learners an opportunity to understand how language works and this will improve their communication skills. "Students need to get an idea of how the new language is used by native speakers and the best way of doing this is to present language in context". Accuracy in language acquisition plays an important role to understand both speaking and writing performances. ―Context gives a more precise understanding of how to use the grammar, and provides accuracy in the studied language both in oral and written skills. Presenting grammar in isolated sentences will not allow learners to see how grammatical structures function in sentences. ―By dealing with related units of information rather than isolated bits, more efficient processing becomes possible. Context-based instruction has always been useful for learners.
