The game method’s advantages and disadvantages. Sight translation is
essential for mastering the skills of simultaneous translation and for actual
translation practice. Sight translation assists the brain in “multitasking”: one area is
busy looking for information, another is forecasting, and so on. In other words
students learn to divide their attention among multiple tasks, as in simultaneous

translation. Forecasting is commonly understood as the prediction of the author's
thoughts when translated from a sheet.
However, there is a risk of guessing incorrectly, a risk of error, and a risk that
it will become a habit to finish the translation before the speaker stops. Real
forecasting allows the translator to optimize both the forecasting process and the
steps of analysis, understanding the text, and phrase construction. This is a
complicated system that needs more attention. Sight translation teaches students to
develop the necessary reaction time when looking for an equivalent from a
“working” vocabulary, as well as how to clearly formulate a thought.
If the translation from the piece of paper is represented, it becomes possible
to listen to oneself, gradually becoming accustomed to one’s own voice, which is
critical for current self-control (for repetitions, poor diction, reservations, etc.).
Furthermore, regular sight translation practice improves a future translator's stamina.
It is critical to immerse students in real-world translation situations while they
are still in the learning process, which necessitates the ability to quickly locate
information in the text by viewing it vertically or diagonally and marking for
themselves remnants containing accurate information, such as a quote or numbers.
Sight translation appears to combine the most important principles for an
interpreter. The preceding list is not exhaustive and can easily be expanded. Students
who excel at sight translation usually excel at simultaneous translation as well. Some
translators do it on a regular basis to practice before a conference or before visiting
the booth.
Despite the fact that sight translation is still rarely used in trainings, it is a very
worthwhile exercise for future interpreters at all phases of learning. A meaningful,
balanced approach to this discipline will allow the teacher to delve deeper into its
subject matter and transfer his skilled experience to students, all while boosting his
qualifications.
