Speech technique training. Students are offered tongue twisters in English
and Uzbek to improve diction and pronunciation. Shortcomings in speech technique
are especially noticeable when the interpreter is tired or when he translates into a
microphone.
Memory training. The purpose of this exercise
is the development of
working memory. Students perform the “snowball” exercise, when students repeat
sentences after the teacher, gradually memorizing the entire text.
Learning to switch to another language. Quick and productive switching to
another language in interpreting always requires mental, emotional, mental and time
costs, so the exercises in the textbook are given in Russian and English.
Training to switch to different types of encoding. Switching from
alphabetic to numeric coding is always difficult for the translator and can reduce the
quality of the work. Students learn to memorize numbers in a verbal environment,
for example, by translating texts with a high frequency of digital information.
Forecast training. The translator must be able to reconstruct the part of the
sentence that he did not catch, relying on grammar, vocabulary and syntax.
Divided Attention Training. The translator must be able to concentrate and
follow the written text while translating. Students are
offered exercises on the
simultaneous actions of speaking, writing and reading.
