GENERAL QUESTIONS
General questions are used to ask general information about something and they require short answers that start either with ,,Yes’’ or ,,No’’.

e.g. Do you have time? Yes, I do. No, I don’t.
Can you help me? Yes, I can. No, I cannot.
Have you ever seen The Eifel Tower in life? Yes, I have. No, I haven’t.
Do you want to pass the exam? Yes, we do. No, we don’t.
Does she need to cry always? Yes, she does. No, she doesn’t.
Must we come every day? Yes, you must. No, you mustn’t.

Negative interrogative questions are usually used to show surprise.

e.g. Don’t you know the alphabet?
Don’t you understand English?
Don’t you have conscience?

In order to answer negative interrogative questions we say ,,Yes’’ to mean ,,No’’ and we say ,,No’’ to mean ,,Yes’’.

e.g. Don’t you like plov? No, I don’t = Yes Yes, I do = No
Doesn’t she like chocolates? No, she doesn’t = Yes Yes, she does = No


SPECIAL QUESTIONS
Special questions require special answers which are full. We have to answer to special questions fully. Special questions start with words like Who / whom / what / where / when / why / which / whose / how and they are used in the following structure:
WH (QUESTION MARKER) + AUXILIARY VERB + S + V + C + M?
e.g. How did you study at school? I studied well at school.
When were they in France? They were in France two years ago.
What did Sarvinoz have for lunch? She had lavash.
Which is more important being rich or being happy? Being happy.
Whose car is that? That car is Tom’s.
Who is absent? Dilyora is absent.
