The articles A / an can be used in the same meaning as the word ,,any’’.
e.g. A well-mannered person always respects others.

The articles a / an can also be used with phrases that express quantity.
A couple of – countable nouns
A dozen of – countable nouns
A great many (of) – countable nouns
A number of – countable nouns
A lot of – either countable or uncountable nouns
A great deal of – uncountable
e.g. I have a couple of questions.
A dozen of singers were awarded in the ceremony.
There are a great many flowers in this garden.
A number of mistakes have been made in paper.
We can use the ,, A ‘’ before the word half when there is a number before it. But if there is no any number before it we will use the articles ,, a / an ‘’ after it.
e.g. We ran two and a half kilometres.
She slept ten and a half hours.
Nigora has eaten half a kilo of honey.
We have spent half an hour for minuses.

The articles ,, a / an ‘’ can also give the same meaning as the word ,, per ‘’ .

We use the articles ,, a / an ‘’ before a noun of exclamation structures. But in this case the noun should be countable singular.
