FEATURES OF TIME PERCEPTION IN ENGLISH, SPANISH
AND RUSSIAN CULTURES 
 
Abstract. The article shows the evolution of the attitude to time and its social role in modern society. Today, 
due to the development of urban culture, time is perceived differently and has a relative, elusive, disappearing na-
ture. Various methods and approaches to studying the perception of time were considered, and the characteristic 
of the attitude to time among representatives of English-speaking, Spanish-speaking and Russian cultures was 
compiled. 
 
Keywords: perception of time, monochronic and polychronic time, culture, long-term and short-term orienta-
tion, cross-cultural communication, time category, punctuality, linear and cyclic time.
