6.7 Pinpoint Deliverables Early in the Process
As early as possible in the process, it is important to get all relevant parties to agree to the specific detailed
services, products, and recommendations encompassed by the project. It is important to allow students adequate
time to identify the specific requirements of the client, but once these requirements have been ascertained, all parties
should agree to the exact deliverables to be provided to the client upon completion of the project.
It should be emphasized on the front end of the project that the timetable for completion is finite and that
significant changes in client expectations might not be accommodated. Changes in project scope are difficult to
accommodate when time is scarce, so it is important to get a consensus on project scope and deliverables as early as
effectively possible.
