Basic assumptions for a project team
Human resources in a project
Human resources are one of the basic factors having a significant impact in the project implementation.
Intended goals are achieved using available resources with a help of people working on a project. Therefore, it is
important to properly motivate employees and create comfortable working conditions
[40].
In the project, human resources allocated to it are called a team, i.e., a set of people who have a common
specific goal for action and mutually complementary skills
[19]. The team is also treated as a specific, coherent group of
people with clearly defined roles, norms and group responsibilities
[32].
A team shares a sense of mutual responsibility
and of belonging, and a willingness to take action together. As a result, the team strives to perform specific tasks in
order to achieve material and non-material gratification
[23].
Therefore, teams in organizations are needed for

Analysis of the project environment

Selection of team members

Assigning roles in the project team

Creation processes during team building
Stages of team development and the role of a leader – Tuckman’s model
The literature on the subject provides many theoretical models of the process of group team development, e.g.,
according to Denise Bonebrigh, or B.W. Tuckman and M.A.C. Jensen. In this work, the author adopted the assumptions
of B.W. Tuckman and M.A.C. Jensen, that for most teams there are five common stages of development. They will
break down the group process into phases (Table 5):

Stage 1: team formation (Forming),

Stage 2: settling into the team and conflict (Storming),

Stage 3: standardizing creation of rules and regulations in the team (Norming),

Stage 4: action, cooperation (Performing),

Stage 5: suspension, parting (Adjourning).
