Strengths – Kanban – general assumptions
1. Reduce processing time to a minimum
The sticky note system helps to systematize tasks. This shortens the processing time.
2. Minimize stock levels with simultaneous harmonious production and timely execution of orders
Clear and precise tasks help to achieve the planned goal.
3. Match the production volume to the number of orders
Tasks allocated according to needs and a number of people in a team. This helps to match the production
volume to the quantity of the ordered goods.
4. Achieve the effect of self-control at every stage of the process to minimize costs of control
Tasks verification using a board with cards. Enables an effective process control at every stage.
Kanban improves the perception of tasks allocation in the team and facilitates achievement of project goals.
Weaknesses – Kanban – general assumptions
1. The original version of kanban is based on paper forms
Generating unnecessary forms, thus extending the working time and project implementation.
2. Increase in transport costs
This is associated, among others, with the same tasks specified at different stages of the process implementation.
3. Requires greater availability of suppliers – often raw materials have to be delivered several times a day
No proper assessment of a situation related to the procurement and delivery system. Generating additional time
that extends the implementation of the project.
4. The method assumes the production in fixed-size batches corresponding to the capacity of the standard
shipping container for that item
The method does not take into account any changes introduced during the process. Any changes are possible
after their implementation.
Using the Kanban method may, but does not have to, slow the process of achieving the project objectives.
