56 In turn, the leader, creating effective visions, is characterized by creative and versatile thinking skills. This shows that they are not afraid to take risks. This means that the leader, despite all difficulties encountered during the implementation of a project, is able to lead people efficiently, guiding them in the right direction. They are responsible for establishing a team, and for developing its goals, action strategy and its capabilities. It is worth adding that an inspiring leader has the gift of convincing team members, focuses their attention and creates a group of own followers who accept and understand their vision, and strive for its implementation [38]. Defining the concept of a project leader is rather complicated, and there are many factors that affect the overall picture. First of all, by acquiring certain character traits and skills, you can learn how to become a leader. To be an effective leader, a leader must have a right attitude and character traits. We are talking about creativity, responsibility, charisma, openness, and the ability to handle difficult situations, as well as a kind of persistence in pursuing goals. Project characteristics and the implementation of proper tasks define the competency profile of the leader. It covers the skills presented in Table 4. Table 4 Competency profile of a leader Specialist skills Innovative skills Interpersonal skills Particularly important for innovative and unconventional projects. Wyzwania organizacyjne i prawne, Wydawnictwo Uniwersytetu Łódzkiego, Łódź 2015, pp. 129 – 144. The leader's competences significantly influence the success of a project. Low competences of a manager increase the risk of failure. Managing a team requires a specific group of qualities that a leader should have. An effective leader is able to use the acquired knowledge and experience already at a very beginning of team building, i.e., during the selection and recruitment of candidates for the team. Not every employee shows leadership predispositions. Leadership is related to charisma, i.e., specific qualities that an individual possesses, influencing the group. The leader has authority, the group listens to and obeys them. An effective leader is able to estimate the situation without any major problems [42]. It should also be emphasized that in the project management, personnel management aims at achieving the following three tasks [40]: 1) creating a personnel management system, 2) maintaining the operation of this system, 3) improving the system. Therefore, it is important to establish the concept of project management and highlight those of its functions that facilitate the achievement of an intended project goal [22]. Download 2.23 Mb.
