The importance and the role of projects in managing a contemporary team 
The literature on the subject contains numerous studies on a role of projects in the management of a 
contemporary team. This subject was discussed, for example, by M. Flasiński, A. Stabryła, M. Trocki, B. Grucza, K. 
Ogonek, and others [15].
In an attempt to explain the significance and the role of projects in managing an organization, several most 
important levels and areas can be indicated where their implementation results in measurable benefits. Projects generate 
benefits for the entire organization, project teams managers and employees, as well as for clients of the organization [12]. 
In turn, from the point of view of the entire organization, projects primarily influence [9]:

effective implementation of business goals, expand ranges for customers; 

increase in the market competitiveness of the organization (improve the position on the competitive 
market), help to acquire new customers; 

offering of products or services that meet needs of customers, providing measurable value and benefit for 
the customer; 

better improvement in the financial situation of the organization through the product created under the 
project; 

a way and a form of establishing cooperation and collaboration with other companies; 

development of key competences, and they support the improvement of business processes, implementation 
of new technologies, products, solutions, etc.; 

generating significant financial benefits, especially if the organization is involved in large infrastructure 
projects (e.g., construction of stadiums, highways, hotels for the European Football Championship Euro 2012, etc.); 

improving the image of the organization. Successful projects significantly improve the image, credibility, 
trust, potential of intellectual capital and, in consequence, increase its market value (this can be considered the most 
important element of management in a strategic perspective). 
Taking into account the changes in the environment, strategic enterprise management requires adaptation of the 
existing development options and the necessity to adapt to the current market situation. This means adjusting the 
portfolio of implemented projects to the emerging new market requirements. 
Hence, projects for managers and members of project teams enable such measurable benefits as [9]:

professional experience, improvement in professional qualifications, gaining new valuable knowledge; 

increasing the level of job satisfaction, as well as obtaining a source of additional income; 

learning responsibility in a team and developing interpersonal skills and a sense of identification with the 
goals of the organization

building a relationship of mutual trust and esteem, 

elements of organizational learning (provided that the project manager demonstrates an appropriate level of 
knowledge, skills and competences, which will allow them to manage the work of the team appropriately. This concerns 
motivating people to share knowledge, and to create appropriate communication rules). 

delivery of the final product and service that will meet the customer's needs and expectations; 

a sense of customer satisfaction, thus providing measurable added value; 

building lasting relationships and increasing the level of customer trust in a given organization. 
Nowadays, enterprises implement projects in order to meet the requirements of consumers, global competition 
and bodies regulating the market. Projects are understood as the necessity to implement various changes in enterprises. 
Their efficient implementation contributes to gaining and maintaining a competitive advantage. In consequence, it 
supports an increase in the organization value. With this point of view in mind, it should be stated that projects have a 
central place and play an important role in the process of strategic company management.
