An Efficient Homomorphic Medical Image Encryption
1. Introduction
Inorder to improve the quality of health care, Electronic health record is the best approach to maintain the patient’s records. EHR is a record of patient’s medical details in digital format. When compared to the paper records this method has several advantages. Electronic Health record helps us to maintain large number of records and it is easy to improve all aspects of patient care, including efficiency, instant updation of records with accuracy. * Corresponding author. One patient record can be accessed by the multiple users. These data are stored in the public cloud. There are many security issues in cloud computing[9].Due to this, privacy has to be taken into account. Since the patient’s name, address and the other health records are present, there may be a possibility of theft, unauthorized access and breaches over the data. Preservation of these records has to be done efficiently. Third party access to those records can be allowed through encrypting the original message using cryptographic algorithms. Healthcare units may require some operations to be performed on the data stored in the cloud and they approach the cloud service providers. In this case the owners has to disclose the original data. Therefore there must be some approach to perform operations without disclosing the original message. Here, Homomorphic encryption comes into picture[3]. Homomorphic encryption allows computation to be carried out on cipher text, then the results of the operations performed can be decrypted by the owner. Now the data owner is able to get the same message as if it is performed on two plain texts. The homomorphic property provides the way to preserve the original data by allowing the third party to perform operations on the encrypted data[4]. An efficient encryption algorithm that satisfies the homomorphic property to perform encryption and decryption on medical images is proposed. This images can be used to store in cloud and operatons can be performed on them. The test analysis is done by performing key space analysis, histogram analysis, PSNR and MSE analysis, correlation analysis and the result are shown. The analysis methods are compared with the existing results by applying the proposed algorithm to the standard images.
