Term 1

Students participate in one activity out of Netball, Football, Rugby, Hockey, Gymnastics, Basketball, Dance, Volleyball, Badminton or Table Tennis, to either performance standard or full-game context. Students participate as performers/players and officials/judges.

Teaching and learning experiences support all standards of learners, with opportunities to practise and refine core skills as well as to develop more advanced skills in order to improve practical performance.

There are also opportunities to develop awareness and application of the rules, as well as to increase the ability to analyse, evaluate and improve others’ performances.

Compared to KS3 PE, there is more of a focus on developing the application of the skills in more competitive or conditioned activities.

Units are completed with students participating in matches/mini-tournaments or performances.

Additionally, all students participate in a unit on Circuit Training and Health Related Fitness, learning how to measure, develop and monitor their own fitness.
