4.17 Tearability. The tape shall be designated as ʺtearable by handʺ if its tensile strength (see 4.4) does not 

exceed 90 N/cm, and the tape after manual tearing has an even edge without fraying. 

4.18 Hot-water Jet Test (Exterior Tape Only) .Adhesive tapes used in wet zones shall withstand loads as they 

may occur in cleaning operations with hot water devices. 

4.18.1 Test Sample/Procedure. The test is performed with a commercially available hot-water jet device and a 

vertically clamped sample wiring harness with a diameter of 10 mm to 15 mm and a length 50 cm to 60 cm

PVC wrapped with 50% overlap. The tape ends are fixed in position. The following parameters shall be 

met:

  Fan nozzle opening angle of 30° to 35° 

•

  Distance between nozzle and wiring harness of 100 mm to150 mm 

•

  Jet application to harness at center at a distance of 40 cm to 50 cm (do not apply jet to edge) from both 

sides with a traverse speed of 2 cm/s to 4 cm/s 

•

  Exposure time of 2 minutes 

•

  Water temperature of 80 °C ± 5 °C 

•

  Operating pressure of 8000 kPa to 10 000 kPa (80 bar to100 bar) 

•

  Application angle towards specimen of 90° ± 10°
