The English construction there from the point of view of communicative syntax

Note 1. This construction, in addition to the verb be, may include some other intransitive verbs, for example: exist - to exist, come - to come, to attack and others, as well as verbs in the passive voice:
1. There exist many different ways to liquefy gases.
Существует (есть) много способов сжижения газов.
2. There has been recently developed a new method in the Laboratory of Ultra-Sound.
A new method has recently been developed in the ultrasound laboratory.
Note 2. If in a sentence with the construction there is the subject is determined by the participle I, then this participle is translated by the personal form of the verb, i.e., the predicate:
There is come force acting on the particle.
There is some kind of force acting on this particle.
Note 3. If in a sentence with the construction there is the subject is determined by the infinitive, then the infinitive is translated by the personal form of the verb, i.e., the predicate with a modal connotation:
There are many measurements to be made.
A lot of measurements should be taken
Practical part

I considered the peculiarities of translating the construction there using the example of the first three parts of the English novel by S. Sheldon "Rage of angels" (1980) and its Russian version "The Wrath of the Angels" (Translation: I. Konoplev, V. Dolbin)

As we can see, the construction there is used quite often in the novel. It shows that something is somewhere or, conversely, is missing. In most cases, it is translated by the verb "to be". However, the author of the translation in some cases did not translate the construction at all or used substitute verbs: it was collected, it was established, it was, it flashed.

There were too many careful layers between Moretti and those who carried out his orders.	Morettiand those who carried out his orders were a solid stratum
