The article improves the attraction of public transportation system when the safety is 
taken into account during the selection of bus stops. In this paper, the characteristics of 
traffic conflict at bus stops is analyzed from various types of bus stops and the 
applicability of bus stations is proposed in comply with provisions of security. It has a 
certain reference value on selection of bus stops.

Introduction 
The bus stop, as infrastructure of urban public transport, plays a role as weaving 
section of traffic flow on a road segment under the time and space 
characteristics. The intersection of buses, non-motor vehicles, pedestrians and 
other traffic participants is formed. The large scale of mixed traffic not only 
reduces capacity of the road, but also fosters various traffic confliction point 
which may inevitably causes traffic safety hazard. Scholars both in domestic and 
overseas have done some researches on the safety of relating bus stops. 
Marco Amadori et al. introduced a methodology to define the level of 
Safety of Public Transport bus stops, based on the concept of Risk. Khaled 
Hazaymeh presents a GIS method to identify risky bus stops on a single bus 
route in the Serdang and Seri Kempangan area according to three attributes: 
location, characteristics, and surface. Ljupko Šimunović et al. analysed the level 
of pedestrian safety at specific bus stop locations. Furthermore, the specific 
examples of existing bus stops in the City of Zagreb will be shown altogether 
with the examples of good and bad practices of bus stop locations included.

Luo Zheng analyzes the main influence factors and the cause of the traffic 
conflict on city bus stops, and the countermeasures and solutions are presented 
for linear bus stops and bus bay stops; In Du Shu’s paper, the non-motor vehicle 
safety at bus stops is discussed, and the conflict anticipation mode based on the 
analyses is built; Taking bus stop of Xi’an provincial stadium as an example, 
Wang Lihua discusses the safety of the bus stop according to the investigation 
on traffic environment and safety. The study of security of bus stops is an 
important factor in bus stops locating. It can improve the service level of bus 
stations, which promotes attractiveness of public transport. The article analyzes 
traffic conflict form at different kinds of bus stops, comparing conflict
