The quantity category in English language (McKay, 2006; Moltmann, 2003), in
Uzbek language (Gulamov, 1944; Safarov, 2004; Zikrillaev,1990; Mamadjanova

valuable research papers which gave evidence about variety of nominalizing
quantifiers (Moltmann, 2003) and plural predicate forms (McKay, 2006).
Thus, a lot of lexicographical and linguistic studies were devoted to analysis of
singularity and plurality means of expressing in English and other languages. In
attitude to the Uzbek language studies it is necessary to point out the research by A.
Gulamov, where the scholar identified thirteen meanings of the Uzbek plural affix ‘’-
lar’’ bring in his book devoted to Uzbek quantity category description (1944).
According to the well-known scholar in Uzbekistan, plurality can be means of quantity,
type, respect, mockery, reinforcement, generalization, approximation, limitation and
so on (1944). Another Uzbek linguist F.Safarov (2004) also identified a number of
linguistic features of plurality referenced to Gulamov. The quantity category of verbs
was the object of investigation in the works by Zikrillaev (1990); Mamadjanova (2009,
2016). The valuable article written by Z.T.Tohtakhodjaeva was devoted to study of
quantitative meaning of the English derived adjectives (1986). Another linguist
L.Malihina also revealed the main ways of expressing category of singularity and
plurality in the English, Russian and Tadjik languages (2011). The analysis of scientific
literature shows that there has been not any research devoted to the comparative and
contrastive study of forms of expressing plurality in English and Uzbek languages.
