INTRODUCTION
A metaphor is colour of our consciousness: maybe, in written aspect ,maybe in spoken. We live in metaphors anywhere in anytime ; in business ,street ,restaurants, even daily speech. And also, they help the language be richer and more “ beautiful” whereas In translating , we may face some problems and diffuculties they may involve . This article explores the significance of metaphors in the creative work of second language learners of English. Metaphor, as viewed in this article, is not only a poetic device or a literary tool, but is recognised as a crucial part of our everyday thinking and meaning making.
Essay writing is a genre of discourse that lends itself to sharing thoughts and reflecting on life and important issues. Teaching and assessment practices in creative writing are studied against the background of the apparent difficulty learners experience with English as their second language. The article argues that recognition should be given to the particular ways in which learners are able to express themselves and to create meaning in a second language by means of metaphor. An analysis was undertaken of the metaphors created by learners in their second language as an expression of their life worlds. The implications for teaching and assessment of learners’ creative writing work suggest a move away from reading only for errors towards recognising learners’ ability to create meaning Metaphor is a literary device that helps readers understand, pay attention, remember and act on messages. Metaphor is a figure of speech in which a word or phrase is applied to an object or action to which it is not literally applicable: Lips are volcanoes, for instance.Using metaphor enables students to advance their critical reasoning skills in the process of examining their mental models.
This activity further develops an ability to articulate - both orally and in writing - a line of reasoning including implicit assumptions and consequences of a specific mental model.
Moreover , Comparative translation and analyzis in translation is most-faced science problem for both translator and reader . While translating literary text to new language ,if a translator or reader don` t know to compare the resource and metaphorical units, .he/she may misunderstand the main point and it can be conflict between meaning and language .In this paper ,it is taught to comparative translation and analyzis and by metaphorical units in the novel “Black prince” by Iris Murdoch and discuss translation related to metaphors .
