CONCLUSIONS ON THE FIRST CHAPTER
Theoretical problems of studying cognitive linguistics is an interdisciplinary field of research, as it combines data from different sciences, in particular linguistics, cultural studies, philosophy, psychology, etc. There are different research approaches: culturological, linguoculturological, logical, semantic-cognitive, philosophical-semiotic, each of which has its own subject of research, sets specific goals and objectives.
By studying the semantic space of a language, we gain reliable knowledge about the part of the concept sphere that is represented in it. By establishing the structure of the semantic space of a language, linguists gain information about some features of human cognitive activity, since it is possible to concretize the content and structures of knowledge located in the human concentosphere.
The concepts of "world picture", "language picture of the world", "conceptual picture of the world", as well as their varieties are interrelated and complement each other. A picture of the world represents reality, but it is not reality itself. The development and change of worldviews is a natural phenomenon in the process of cognition, which brings a person closer to understanding their own essence and the nature of the world. The study of the worldview in language, the interrelation of processes occurring in human memory and determining the construction and understanding of language messages, is becoming more intense.
When analyzing the linguistic conceptualization of the category of space, linguists note the specific nature of perception and encoding of spatial relations in human consciousness and in language. The concept of space is an essential and important fragment of both scientific and naive worldviews, which is reflected in each individual language. The linguistic representation of the category of space is based on its complex reflection in human consciousness, which includes both naive everyday perception and interpretation, as well as some strictly scientific methods, concepts and units that are characteristic of various fields of knowledge.
A set objects, objects given in human perception simultaneously forms a complex spatial image of the world, which is a necessary condition for the orientation of any human activity. The cognitive situation is determined by the fact that space is included "in the theoretical and cognitive turnover" of many sciences, both natural and humanitarian, which only increases the interest in the problems of space today. This scientific trend is reflected in the popularity that the category of space has gained in modern linguistics. This demand has led to a significant accumulation of linguistic knowledge about space. The problem of space in the language system is multifaceted. For a deeper understanding of the essence of the relations "category of space – language – science of language", it is necessary to distinguish ordinary ideas about space. This perspective should be differentiated from the interest in space as the basis of a scientific linguistic worldview.
As a result of the study, material was obtained, the analysis of which allowed us to conclude that the category of space plays an important methodological role in the research activities of linguists. The key construct for reconstructing representations of space in a language is the linguistic picture of the world. The experience of knowing the world, including its spatial attributes, is stored in the language picture of the world in the form of categories. The everyday image of space fixed in the linguistic picture of the world is not identical to the scientific image of language space in linguistics, i.e., in the scientific picture of language. In the first case, we are dealing with the idea of "space reflected in language", while in the second – with the spatial perception of the language itself by linguists studying it. In cognitive linguistics, there is no single scientific picture of language. Some works actively exploit the structuralist spatial image of language, while others seek to move away from it, since such an understanding of the nature of language, imposing restrictions, does not allow solving new research problems. In linguistics, the category of space is widely used in metalanguage activities. Its methodological potential makes it possible to model various sets of language objects that are located in some spatial relations to each other. Here it is difficult to distinguish between the ontological and methodological status of the concept of space.
