It is better for college students to live far away from home than live 

at home with their parents. Do you agree or disagree? 

It is generally considered that college learners reap more benefits when they live 

away from their parents during their academic studies. In my opinion, it is really 

useful to do so because students can gain important life experience and become 

more independent being away from their families. 

To begin, students who live far from their parents can learn a lot of new things for 

themselves. For example, they normally have to cook meals for themselves and 

look after their flat or hostel, which they did not use to do before in their family 

homes. This means they become more responsible and understand the difficulties 

of life. That is one of the reasons why I believe they can benefit themselves by             

staying away. 

Moreover, being away from their home and facing different expected and                    

unexpected situations in life, students come to understand that parents are the 

most important persons for them. After all, their parents have always tried to se-

cure them a better future and students now realize that life is not as easy as they 

thought before.  

Nevertheless, some students lose control over their study process because they are 

influenced by their peers or simply feel lazy to study. In such cases parents could 

be of great help because they would strictly control their children and check their 

progress regularly. Furthermore, learners will have to work part-time to provide 

themselves as a result of which interest in study might decline. These are some of 

the drawbacks of being out of parents’ control. 

In conclusion, students are likely to improve their knowledge and prepare                  

themselves for independent life when they are studying at a distance from their 

homes. Thus, I believe they can benefit more when they apply for colleges and  

universities that are located far from their homes.

It is often said that there is clear distinction between males and females in terms of 

their abilities and skills. Thus, a particular amount of jobs should be done by men, 

while  women  should  also  seek  employment  according  to  their  qualities.  In  my 

opinion,  although  qualities  are  different,  most  of  the  jobs  do  not  have  specific         

requirements for gender. 

 

Today,  majority  of  jobs  in  a  modern  society  do  not  set    particular  gender                           

requirements for prospective employees. Instead, what is  being looked for is pro-

fessional qualities and experience. For example, whether you are a man or a wom-

an, you can teach learners different subjects at school. Thus, it is not always the 

case to  select only one particular gender for a job position.  

 

Moreover,  there  are  government  acts  and  specific  laws  that  protect  employee 

rights.  According  to  these,  employers  cannot  discriminate  potential  employees 

who  are  willing  to  work  in  their  companies.  If  the  candidate  has  the  right                     

qualification  and  skills,  it  does  not  usually  matter    whether  a  man  or  a  woman              

applies for the job position. 

 

However, there are specific jobs that specialize in catering for women or for men 

only,  which  means  employing  based  on  gender  is  a  requirement.    To  illustrate, 

jobs in beauty salons should be done by women only. Likewise, men are to be pre-

ferred  for  those  sectors  which  serve  only  male  population.    Moreover,  some               

physically  demanding  and  potentially  risky  workplaces  are  also  preferential  for 

men for the sake of security. 

 

To conclude, it is true that males and females have very different qualities, but, in 

my view, it should not be the case to separate, or in some instances to discriminate 

women  or  men  for  certain  job  positions.  However,  certain  jobs  which  aim  at  a     

particular gender are the exception to this.
