It  has  been  considered  for  quite  a  long  time  that  every  individual  living  in  the 

globe  would  like  to  possess  a  vehicle,  a  television  and  a  refrigerator.  In  my                 

opinion,  the  drawbacks  concerning  this  trend  outbalance  the  benefits  these             

possessions are going to offer.  

A  major  drawback  of  willing  to  own  such  things  is  that  people  do  not  always 

have access to them and try to work extra hours to save up for purchasing these 

things. That is to say, people need to overwork to finally be able to reach these 

products. For example, in order to buy a car in Uzbekistan, a person with average 

salary  will  have  to  save  up  for  10  or  15  years  on  average.  Consequently,  these             

individuals start feeling disappointed and are likely to develop health problems 

and stress related illnesses. 

Another negative consequence of trying to own an automobile, a fridge or a TV 

set is that people start to evaluate a person’s success based on these things. As a 

result, society is likely to face a discriminating and materialistic generation that 

will ignore cultural and moral values that have existed for centuries. To illustrate, 

many people feel envious of those who drive the latest model of cars, the most 

advanced televisions or refrigerators. On top of that, people are likely to evaluate 

all other things comparing with material wealth such as these. 

In  contrast,  this  trend  has  to  offer  positive  outcomes  too.  For  example,  every               

person  seeks  comfort  in  their  life  and  these  possessions  have  been  invented  to 

make people’s life easier. People can easily reach their destinations be them short 

or  long,  they  can  get  food  fresh  out  of  their  fridge  and  finally  enjoy  watching       

colorful high definition videos. 

In conclusion, although these objects are meant to enhance our life and actually 

we  benefit  from  them  enormously,  I  believe  this  development  causes  more                    

negative consequences that far outweigh the advantages it can offer.
