THE CONCEPT OF TERM AND TERMINOLOGY AS AN OBJECT OF LINGUISTIC RESEARCH
Chapter.I
The emergence of terminology as a scientific discipline dates back to the twenties of the last century. First of all, if the concepts of term and terminalology are explained, terminology is frm Lot. terminus- border + greek. explains the meaning of logos-science, teaching. In the studies conducted on terms in world linguistics, terminology is defined as a collection of terms or concepts that belong to a part of a set of knowledge related to a certain field, and terminasystem is a system that organizes terms and shows the relationships between them. considered as a concept.
.
According to A.A.Reformatsky, a term is always a member of a terminological group and its meaning is clearly understood. The terminological field replaces its context. In its terminological field, a term-word acquires clarity and unambiguity, and beyond its boundaries, it loses its term character.
Following elements that are typical features of the term from a linguistic point of view:
1) a term is a word or phrase;
2) a given word or phrase has a special meaning;
3) a clear definition of this meaning requires definition within a certain system of concepts;
4) any word or phrase understood as “term” means a professional, special concept.
11
At first, terminology was considered a part of lexicology, but this discipline was recognized as a separate discipline after the Australian scientist O. Wyuster devoted his doctoral dissertation to lexical units in technical language in 1931. He was the founder of the first terminology school, after which his student H. Felber continued his work. H. Felber is the author of the world’s first international training manual on terminology.
In some works focused on issues of terminology, the words “term-istiloh-atama” are used in the form of a synonym nest.At the time, A. Hajiyev seriously considered the wrongness of replacing the word term with the construction of a term, its causes and consequences. A. Hajiiyev’s “Explanatory Dictionary of Linguistic Terms” defines the term as follows: A word or combination of words that clearly expresses the concept of something related to science, technology and other fields, and the scope of use is limited to these fields. Terms differ from common words with the features such as being unambiguous, lacking in expression and emotionality. The notion of “atama” represents a narrow understanding compared to the word term. It was not taken into account that concepts such as the “atama-atamashunoslik” were of a general nature. Because “atama” means lexical units related to onomastics (such as toponymy, anthroponomy, oikonymy) unrelated to terminology. The word “istilah” is Arabic. The people do not understand it and it has not become the norm.
According to some sources, the science of psychology was founded by the German philosopher Johann Friedrich Herbart at the beginning of the 19th century and contributed to the integration of the science of psychology into an independent scientific system. In addition, according to the famous psychologist G. Ebbingauz, who worked in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, “Psychology has a long and small history before history.”Here, history refers to the period when psychology separated from philosophy and formed as an independent science, came closer to natural sciences and acquired its own experimental method. There are a number of such psychological dictionaries created in English, they are; “APA concise dictionary of psychology (2009; 10,000 entries)”, “APA college dictionary of psychology (2009; 5,000entries)”, “APA Clinical psychology(2013,11,000entries)”,“APA dictionary of lifespan Developmental psychology (2013,8,000 entiries)
