2.2 Types of graph writing
There are several different types of charts and graph. The four most common are probably line graphs, bar graphs and histograms, pie charts, and Cartesian graphs. They are generally used for , and are best for , wquite different things.
Histogram
Histogram can be defined as a set of rectangles with bases along with the intervals between class boundaries. Each rectangle bar depicts some sort of data a4nd all the rectangles and adjacent. The heights of rectangles are proportional to corresponding frequencies of similar as well as for different classes. Let’s learn about histograms more in detail. A histogram is the graphical representations of data where data is grouped into continuous number ranges and each range corresponds to a vertical bar. The horizontal axis displays the nuber range . The vertical axis represents the amount of data that is present in each range. The number ranges depend upon the data that is being used. A histogram graph is a bar graph representation of a range of outcomes into columns formation along the x-axis. It is the easiest manner that can be used to visualize data distributions. Let us understand the histogram graph by plotting one for the given below example.
Pie chart is a graphical representation technique that displays data in a circular –shaped graph. Pie chart is called also circle chart is circular statistical graphic which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion. In a pie chart, the arc length of each slice (and consequently its central angle and area) is proportional to the quantity it represents. While it is named for its resemblance to a pie which has been sliced, there are variations on the way it can be presented. The earliest known pie chart is generally credited to William 1Playfair's Statistical Breviary of 1801. Pie charts are very widely used in the business world and the mass media.[3] However, they have been criticized,[4] and many experts recommend avoiding them,[5][6][7][8] as research has shown it is difficult to compare different sections of a given pie chart, or to compare data across different pie charts. Pie charts can be replaced in most cases by other plots such as the bar chart, box plot, dot plot, etc. The pie chart is an important type of data representation. It contains different segments and sectors in which each segment and sector of a pie chart forms a specific portion of the total(percentage). The sum of all the data is equal to 360°.For example, take a pie chart representing the sales a retail store makes in a month. The slices represent the sales of toys, home decor, furniture, and electronics. The below pie chart represents sales data, where 43 percent of sales were from furniture, 28 percent from electronics, 15 percent from toys, and 14 percent from home decor. These figures add up to 100 percent, as should always be the case with pie graphs.
1.Playfair’s Statistical Breviary published in London in 1801 , contains what is generally credited as the first pie chart. From 1809 until 1811. He published the massive ‘British Family Antiquity.
