Contact English versionology Due to the fact that in the second half of the twentieth century, the English lan- guage spread as a language of intercultural communication, huge changes took place in the linguistic world, which was reflected in the emergence of new paradigms in the field of sociolinguistics, namely linguistic contactology, the field of study of which is the in- teraction of languages in relations with the contacts of peoples using these languages. One of the areas of linguistic contactology is the contact variantology of the Eng- lish language, known abroad as World Englishes (WE) Paradigm. The founders of this paradigm are American scientists Braj Kachru from the University of Illinois at Urbana- Champaign and Larry Smith from the University of Hawaii (at that time). Initially, a new direction manifested itself through the assertion of the pluricentricity of the English language, which replaced the idea of its bicentricity in the form of British and American standards. This means that English is widely spoken in several independent states and implies the coexistence of several standards, or norms [6]. IWC (Intercultural Communication) and EIL One of the key components of the EL course as an international one is preparing students for effective communication in the context of interaction with representatives of other options of EL - representatives of other cultures. The term IWC refers to an adequate understanding of two participants in a communicative act belonging to differ- ent national cultures. The close interdependence of teaching foreign languages and intercultural com- munication is so obvious that it hardly needs extensive explanation. But it should be emphasized that the very concept of teaching English as an international language sug- gests that EL, with its many variations, is the language of international and, therefore, intercultural communication. In this regard, the teaching methodology of EIL should be based on the phenomenon of the IWC. In addition, it is worth paying enough attention to studying your culture as part of this course. When studying all the features of the cultural traditions of your country and their perception abroad, you can easily evaluate any sociolinguistic situation and establish a successful communicative act. Some customs of one country and their man- ifestation can cause an ambiguous attitude of the interlocutor from another state, which should be considered when communicating with representatives of other cultures. Un- doubtedly, such an approach to the development of the course will favorably affect the result of training, since in this case all the basic necessary information is offered in or- der to achieve the most positive effect in the conditions of intercultural communication. The concept of the course of EL as international can be compared with a patient whom a doctor is treating for any ailment. The doctor considers not just a disease, but the person himself with its physiological, anatomical and psychological characteristics. So, the EIL course considers teaching English not just from the point of view of the Ученый XXI века • 2020 • № 3-3 (62) 15 “bare” language, but from the standpoint of the characteristics of the cultures of coun- tries with their options. Considering the issue of cultural content, we can conclude that cultural knowledge constitutes intercultural competence, and it, in turn, grows out of the concept of intercultural communication, which leads us to the fact that without re- liance on the ICC it is impossible to create a course of teaching English as an interna- tional language.
