Activity 2a Play “Jump”.

Objective: to revise verbs from Class 1 with the structure “I can …”

STEP 1: Play the DVD and animate all pictures. Pupils just watch and listen. If you have no possibility to use the DVD, you can start with Step 2.

DVD script:

1. Frog: I can jump. 2. Monkey: I can climb. 3. Horse: I can run. 4. Crocodile: I can swim. 5. Robot 1: I can fly. 6. Robot 2: I can play hockey. 7. Robot 3: I can skate. 8. Robot 4: I can ski. 9. Boy: I can play football. 10. Girl: I can jump a rope. 11. Boy: I can fly a kite.

STEP 2: Ask the pupils to look at the pictures and point to the picture when they hear a verb. Say all the verbs in turn: fly, jump, climb, run, swim, play football, fly a kite, jump rope, ski, skate, play hockey. Watch that they point to all the pictures correctly.

STEP 3: Ask the pupils to stand in a circle. Say that you will demonstrate how to play a game. Throw a ball to a pupil and say “Jump” and help the pupil to say “I can jump.” Throw a ball to another pupil and say another verb, for example “climb” etc

Note: Don’t play more than 2-3 minutes.
