Aims
• Learn about application forms for clubs.
• Listen to a dialogue about joining a club.
• Practise talking about joining a club.
Warm-up (2 minutes)
• Ask students if they are members of any clubs, particularly any sporting clubs. Find out if they have been in these clubs for long and whether they had to fill in forms when they joined.
Exercise 1 CD 1.11
• Focus students on the handwritten note and elicit that it is someone’s personal information. Ask students to identify the full name of the person (Mark Haywood).
• Students match the parts of the form 1–7 with the information in the handwritten note.
• Play the CD. Students listen and check their answers.

• Look at the photos. Students match them with the words, either in pairs or as a class activity.
• Check answers by asking individual students to name the sport in each photo.
• Explain that students are going to listen to a girl, Eve, joining one of the classes in the photos. They listen and identify the class she chooses.
