Abstract. This article talks about the formation of independent studies in non-philological 
private universities. At the current stage of society's development, priority is given to the main values 
of education: the formation of a linguistic personality, the development of his moral and patriotic 
qualities and the promotion of higher education. 
Key words: philology, independent works, non-philological private universities, independent 
studies, creative independent works, oral speech, communication. 
When performing creative independent work, the student is required to independently see and 
formulate the problem in a particular situation, to identify and establish cause-and-effect relationships 
of phenomena, events, etc. 
Such independent works appear in training in the form of solving problems with missing data, 
writing essays, reports, reviews of literary sources, and doing small independent research. The 
formation of skills of independent activity can be carried out in various types of activity. The more 
species develop independence, the more successful its formation will be. 
Thus, the use of independent work allows you to form the skills of independent activity. The 
teacher, with the help of independent work, teaches students to think independently, analyze, establish 
cause-and-effect relationships and also instills the ability to set a goal, plan their actions, exercise 
step-by-step control and self-control. If the teacher organizes independent work correctly, he will be 
able to lay the skills of independent activity and as a result, will receive high-quality results.At the 
present stage of the development of society, priority is given to the main values of education: the 
formation of a linguistic personality, the formation of its moral and patriotic qualities, the 
humanization and humanitarization of higher education. 
This led to the introduction of the “general humanities” discipline into the State Standard and 
the basic plan of non-humanitarian faculties, designed to give the foundations of language and speech 
knowledge to non-philology students, which is a significant and natural factor, but not sufficient for 
the formation of professional communicative competence of a modern student - a future teacher. 
Thus, the relevance, in turn, dictates the need to develop a methodology for teaching it, taking into 
account the specifics of the faculty, performing a metamethodological function in the professional 
training of non-philologists - future teachers of mathematics, physics, drawing, technology, which 
forms their rhetorical competence. The specifics of teaching pedagogical rhetoric at non-philological 
faculties is as follows. 
However, the problem of forming the rhetorical competence of non-philologists in a 
pedagogical university has not been sufficiently studied: teaching speech disciplines to students of 
the mathematical, physical faculties, the faculty of technology and entrepreneurship was not the 
subject of a special study; pedagogical rhetoric was considered outside the system of methodological 
and psychological-pedagogical disciplines; existing programs manuals are not focused on interaction 
with subject methods and on the formation development of a high level of rhetorical competence of 
students in this group. This determined the topic and direction of the study, in the center of which is 
a non-philologist student (a future teacher of mathematics, physics, drawing, technology) as a 
speaking person, gaining “orator experience” in the process of pedagogical communication and 
developing his communicative speech and rhetorical skills. 
The modern educational system poses an important task, to teach to master the logic of thinking, 
research methods, methods of obtaining knowledge. To achieve these goals, it is necessary to form 
the skills of independent activity. Education will be more productive if students are taught the skills 
of independent work on educational material. Of particular relevance at the present stage of 
optimizing education has become the problem of developing the skills of independent activity among 
student. 
The development of the ability to learn as the initial stage for self-education and self-
development is one of the value orientations of education. To achieve these skills, they must fully
