Write the following question on the board: 
 
Do you have one main learning style or do you 
use different learning styles?

Give the students time to read and reflect on 
the question individually before discussing 
their ideas in pairs. Have a brief class feedback 
session.

Ask the students to find another first aid procedure 
on the internet and to use their preferred learning 
style to learn it. Ask them to teach it to the other 
students in the next lesson.

Tell the students this is a common procedure 
that it is useful to know, and that they are going 
to learn it using their main preferred learning 
style. To check that everyone is clear about the 
learning style they are going to use, read out 
the four learning styles (interpersonal, visual, 
kinaesthetic and linguistic) and ask the students 
to raise their hand when they hear their preferred 
learning style. Explain that they are going to use 
the techniques they listed under Learning to 
cook a new recipe.

Invite the interpersonal learners to work together 
in pairs. Ask the visual and linguistic learners to 
use their notebooks. Encourage the kinaesthetic 
learners to find a space in the classroom to move 
around.

Give the students 15 minutes to learn the 
procedure. When the time is up, put the 
students into pairs and ask them to test each 
other to see how many steps they can remember 
(they should have their backs to the board and/
or cover the instructions).

Hold a brief class feedback session to find out 
if they were able to remember all the steps and 
how successful they felt their learning style was.
