The scientific novelty of this work lies in the fact that the problem of slang has interested and interests linguists both abroad and in our country, because there is nothing secondary in a living language, also it lies in the comprehensive study of slangisms: the specifics of the functioning of slang units in the speech of young people are described, the methods of nomination characteristic of youth slang are considered, the semantics of slang units is clarified.
Methodological foundations. In the course of the research we relied on the directive documents on the Higher professional education and the main methodological theories of most prominent language researchers and slangists such as Voloshin Yu.K., Gorelov I.N., Galperin I.N. and etc.
The theoretical value of this dissertation lies in the systematic consideration of the theory and practice of describing youth slang against the background of the achievements of modern linguistics; in the further development of the methodology for the multidimensional study of slang vocabulary; in identifying the systemic organization of youth subcultural slang, the sources of its formation and replenishment.
The practical value of the research lies in the fact that its results can be used in the practice of teaching English at school, university, in the preparation of special courses and special seminars in English, in theoretical and practical courses of modern English. This study may also be useful in the field of theory and practice of journalism.
