The topicality of our investigation is that slang, being a complex linguistic phenomenon, is one of the controversial problems of modern lexicology. There is a large amount of research in this area, however, a clear definition of slang has not yet been given, and the question of what functions youth slang has is controversial. Since slangisms are characterized by short duration, slang units constantly appear and disappear, their study does not cease to be relevant. Moreover, the study of youth slang is becoming relevant in the context of expanding the boundaries of communication opportunities between representatives of different cultures using the Internet, namely, among the younger generation.
The purpose of this work is to show the place and functions of reduced vocabulary, in particular, National slangs in the process of communication on the basis of modern dictionaries.
The object of the investigation is modern youth slang.
The subject of our investigation is peculiarities of slang development and functioning in the historical prospective.
Research hypothesis. If teachers design video-based activities by taking the factor of audience into serious account, it will result in ceaseless success to reinforce students’ academic skills.
The aim of our investigation is to determine specific features of slang functioning in previous years and in our today life, as well as to analyze teachers’ and students’ attitude towards slang.
