Conclusions on the first chapter

  1. Analysis of the current state of the issue of flooding urban areas showed that its main causes are the geomorphological, hydrogeological and engineering-geological conditions of the developed and newly developed territories. Due to the unsatisfactory state of the surface water outlet network and drainage systems, an intensive rise in the level of groundwater occurs. Along with this, due to the lack of systematic hydrogeological monitoring of the level of groundwater, flooding of the territories of some cities, in particular the city of Karshi, is observed.

  2. Based on the results of the analysis of modern geo -information technologies, used in solving problems of flooding of urban areas, it has been established that their use not only significantly increases the efficiency of assessing the conditions of an urban area, but also allows using the possibilities of an integrated approach to interpreting the results of various studies presented in the form of separate coverages (layers) of an electronic map.

  3. An increase in the technogenic load on all components of the geological environment of cities, in particular, on groundwater, which is most sensitive to external influences, as a moving element of this equilibrium-nonequilibrium system, is revealed. It is shown that in connection with this, filtration modeling in the problems of predicting the processes of technogenic flooding of urban areas is a necessary element of monitoring studies. It is noted that in the practice of hydrogeological calculations, computer programs of various developers are used.

To solve typical problems of predicting man-caused flooding, typical programs GMS (Groundwater Modeling System), FEFLOW (Finite Element Subsurface Flow & Transport Simulation System) and Visual MODFLOW are considered, each of which has its own set of advantages that determine the range of tasks to be solved, in particular, lighting man-made flooding. The expediency of using the Visual Modflow software package in modeling changes in hydrogeological conditions under the influence of technogenic impacts and determining predictive estimates of flooding and drainage of the territory of the city of Karshi, taking into account the peculiarities of engineering and geological conditions, is substantiated.
