I Formulation of the case-task: Simple Sentence. Parts of the sentence. Secondary parts of the sentence
A sentence can be defined as a complete structure, or as a completed representation of a thought, or as a completed and independent unit of speech. Structural types of sentences depend upon the way the most important features of the sentence, namely, predicativity, that is reflected in their structure. The method designed for showing as many functions as possible is known as the model of members of the sentence. This model shows that a sentence includes besides the main members of the sentence, also secondary members, namely the Object, the Attribute and Adverbial modifiers.
II Try to find out the solutions of the following problems:
1.Give a full description of Simple sentences and the secondary parts of the sentence in the English language using the below given brief information. Make use of the tables, schemes, diagrams etc.
2.Speak about the Attribute and ways of expressing the attribute. Give examples.
3.Speak about the Object and its types. Give examples.
4.Give a short information about Adverbial modifiers and their types.. Give examples.
III A) Point out the following sentences (say whether they are complete or elliptical) and one-member, two member, extended or unextended sentences).
1. Stop! b) Stop being funny. 2. Hello! Glad to see you. 3. “In a hurry?” “Rather.” 4.”How are the boys?” “Fine.” 5. “I wish you a fine weekend.” “Thanks. The same to you”.
B) Point out the parts of the sentence in the following sentences and define what part of speech they are expressed by:
1. Books are ships which pass through the vast seas of time. 2. A fool’s tongue is long enough to cut his own throat. 3. Better die standing than live kneeling.
