English speakers say both: It’s a quarter past nine.
and It’s quarter past nine.

You may ask your PP to read the sentences aloud in chorus or individually.
(It is nine o'clock!) It is (a) quarter past nine.
(It is half past nine.) It is (a) quarter to ten
Activity 3b Look and say.
Objective: to practise telling the time
PP take turns to say the time.
e.g. It's half past four.
Step4 Consolidation
Activity 4 Chain Drill.
Objective: to practise saying the time
Do this in the usual way.
e.g. A: What time is it?
B: It's....
Activity 5 Work in pairs. Draw and complete the clocks.
Objective: to give more practice in saying the time
PP work in pairs. Each of them draws different times on her/his 3 blank clocks. Pupil A asks Pupil B: What time is it? and draws the time on one of blank clocks. Then Pupil В asks and draws.
