Indefinite or Simple Tenses: are used to state the fact of an action in the present, past or future without indicating its duration, completeness and without regard to any other action or moment.
Continuous Tenses (Brit.) or Progressive Tenses (Amer.): describe an action in the process of being completed, thus expressing an unfinished continuous action in the present, past or future.
Perfect Tenses: Express an action completed at a certain moment or before another action in the present, past or future.
Perfect Continuous (Progressive) Tenses: are used to express a long action that began up to a certain moment in the present, past or future and continues at this moment or ended immediately before this moment.
Voice
The voice forms show whether the subject is the person (thing) doing the action, or the person (thing) undergoing the action.
The Active Voice is used if the subject denotes a person or object that itself performs the action expressed by the predicate. In this form, both transitive and intransitive verbs can be used.
The dog chases the ball.
Собака гоняется за мячом.
Passive Voice is used when the subject, denoting a person or object, is subject to action by another person or object. Only transitive verbs can take this form.
The ball is being chased by the dog.
Mood
Mood is a form of the verb that expresses the relation of action to reality. There are three moods in English.
The Indicative Mood denotes an action as a real fact in the Present, Past or Future. This form is the main one in the transfer of information and in communication.
He watches movies in the evening.
Он смотрит фильмы вечером.
Imperative Mood expresses an impulse to action (an order, request, advice, etc.)
Go to the shop.
